Hi there, beautiful. It’s me again. Your soul speaking. I have been pretty quiet lately, but just because I have been so unsure of how to tell you this. I have been having this thought for a few weeks now but the words just couldn't come. But now that they have, I want your full attention. I want you to sit down, take a couple deep breaths, find your heart beat, and be present. Once you have done that, start reading. This message that I have for you is so important. It is something that you so desperately need to hear. It is something that you push and push away because if you let it become a thought in your head you might have to make it a reality. It is something that steals more of your moments than the chaos of daily life. The message that you so desperately need to hear is simple, yet complicated. It is amazing, yet daunting. It is everything, but nothing at the same time. It is a dream, that could be a reality, if you let it. The one word that describes what I have been so troubled to find to tell you is…jump.
Thats right. Weeks and weeks of confusion, word processing, soul searching and what I wanted to say all this time was to jump. I think deep down I knew the feeling that I wanted to associate with the action, but needed time to put it all together. Jump. These past few weeks I have been exposed to what we all refer to as adulating. Graduation happened and real life began. I have to say it is harder than I ever thought it would be. It is a constant stream of doubting, not knowing, questioning of yourself and your abilities with a few moments of happiness, reward, and acknowledgement. That is when it hit me. That the reality of this life is we all have to work. We have to provide for ourselves, our children, our futures, etc. It is a necessity and something that although we wish we could go on a permanent vacation, we can’t. We must work and that is not changing any time soon. And that is when I started to think about my life and our lives. We spend the majority of our times at our jobs. They really are some of our biggest commitments and time consuming things that we associate ourselves with. And that is why we must jump. We have to follow our hearts to the jobs and careers that are calling us. The ones that we day dream about. The ones that make us smile. The ones that we regretted not taking. The ones that on the bad days we immediately think of. THOSE are what we need to be providing our means with. Because not only does it pay the bills, it fuels the soul. It replenishes the heart. It gives us purpose and reward. It allows us to make an impact and mark on this life in such a special way that we can’t go on any longer not living a life that brings joy and happiness every single day.
I know it isn't that simple. This isn't a board game of monopoly. There are no re rolls or start overs, but we have to try our best to figure it out. Because we get one life. That’s it. Just one. One freaking shot to get this thing as close to perfect as we can. My wish for all of you is that the time you are spent breathing is something you are proud of. Something you are excited to wake up for. Something that you feel like you couldn't live without. If you love your job you will never work a day in your life. That’s the goal right? So do it. The ball is in your court. The torch is in your hand. And there is no time like the present. Again, I hear you and know that you're sitting there rolling your eyes and shaking your head. But just give it a thought. Crunch some numbers. See if there is a way you can make it work. Whether it is going part time, switching careers all in all, going back to school, switching to a new company, starting your own business, whatever it may be, give it a second to become real. Just for one second. Because the amazing thing about dreams are they are close to the most addictive drugs on this planet. I know it sounds crazy, but if you give it a second to flow into your bloodstream for just a second, and really engulf it for all that it is, you will become addicted for life.
It is a short life when push comes to shove. And while the days seem dreadful and long, the years do fly by. One day there will be no more days. Your body will be worn and tired. Your breathing will slow and your heart beat will come to a halt. There will be a time when you lay in bed knowing your days are numbered and you're going to think of all the things that you did, but you’re also going to think of all the things that you didn't do. Don't let your regrets outnumber your accomplishments. So I ask you today to jump. Jump so far into your dreams that your life is surrounded by joy, happiness, wonder, and might. Start living a life that your proud of. One that you can look back on and know that you didn't waste working to do some of the things you hoped to do, but rather spent time working doing the things you were born to do. I know we can do this. We can jump. Whether it is a running jump, a handholding terrified one, a 2 foot one or a 100 foot one. So close your eyes, imagine the life you were destined to live, and chase it.
That is all for now, but I’ll be back to check in on you soon. Remember, I am with you always and work hand in hand with your heart. The heart may be the thing that keeps you living, but me, I am the thing that makes life worth living. Remember that always.
The soul of the beautiful person reading this.
