Happy Monday TORQUE tribe! The time has finally come…back to school! I know I have said this before but whether you’re the parents getting the kids on the bus, the kids in school or the ones affected by the busses, this time of year impacts us all! I’m sure that there is a mix of emotions that are being felt by many of you as this school year begins and that is okay. Because for everything there is a season, and this season that we are entering is one of the new beginnings, new challenges, successes and failures, and a whole lot of learning! So let’s break it down for all parties at hand...
Moms and dads. You did it. You survived another summer with your kiddos and I’m sure that towards the end you were ready for them to get their feet back into school. Whether this is your first time at the bus stop or the last one, there is a lot that is going through your body. You’re so proud of your mini me’s for all that they have accomplished and all that they will accomplish, but at the same time you see them changing from babies, to little humans, to kiddos, to teenagers, to college kids and you wish that time will just slow down. Because there will be a day when you wish you could make a PB and J for them with a little “I love you note” in their lunch box. There will be a time when you miss writing their name on all their folders…and notebooks…and crayons….and tissues…and hand sanitizer (this future teacher is saying THANK YOU!). There will be a time when they don't come running home from school to tell you all about your day. (The days of “I learned nothing and my day was fine” is upon us all) And finally, there will be a time when you have to let them go. So soak it up now. Put little treats in their lunches. Embrace the things you still need to do for them. Get in the picture with them. Give them hugs and kisses. Listen to their stories. And be present. Because there are only so many first days of school. And these days are just as much about you as they are about them.
To our teeny TORQUE tribe, to our high school TORQUE tribe, and to our college TORQUE babes, good luck!! This is an exciting time for all of us (myself included)! While this time of year brings so many good things like seeing all your friends again, all new clothes, fun new school supplies, and so much more, it also brings things like homework, new challenges, different friendships, and feelings that might not have a place yet. But all of that is learning, and that is what school is all about. A place to grow into the person you were meant to be. So take this year and make it the best one yet! Try something new, study a little more, challenge yourself, and at the end of the day, be proud of all of the things you have accomplished. Stay true to yourself and follow your heart. It will never steer you wrong. We will miss seeing you all in the studio, but know that this place is home. Whether you are hanging with your buddies in the childcare room or rushing to Jilly’s 4 pm classes or reuniting with your college babes on breaks, this place is your home and know that whenever you walk into the studio, our hearts skip a beat. We are so proud of all of you and all of your accomplishments! Keep making us proud! We love watching you grow into these amazing humans and we cannot wait to watch you FLY!
And finally, to all of the other people out there who may not be in school anymore and don't have little ones going to school or have had to say goodbye to their kiddos for the school year, we know this is a challenging time as well. I think the best way to look at it is for everything there is a season. And while right now school might mean more traffic, longer lines at Starbucks, and those school zone speed limits, there was a time when you were apart of it all. And there could be a time when you’re in it again. So take this time and reflect on all the good that this season can bring. Make the traffic fun with some good tunes. Save a few bucks and make a coffee at home. Remember that school zones keep the babes safe. And the reality is that the learning never ends. Take this time to put something new into your life. Challenge yourself. Set goals. Do something exciting! Whatever it may be, let this season of change be a positive thing in your life, because the inner teacher in me has to say that learning truly is the greatest tool in which we can use to change the world.
So my dearest tribe here’s to this new adventure. Some of you may be jumping for joy and some of you may be grabbing extra tissues. We might be nervous and excited. And we might be questioning our next step, but we are all here together. And as I always say, together is my favorite place to be. Know that we are all SO proud of you and all your achievements and we cannot wait to see how our kiddos, big and small, do this school year!
Go out there and learn something! XO!
