Wednesday morning what is good?! This may be the most exciting Wednesday of my life, not only do we have a badass WCW, but because tomorrow this TORQUE babe is homebound, and yes peeps, I’m coming home for good! As the semester comes to a close, usually a lot of reflecting takes place. When I look back on this year, I have one word...growth. So much growth and so much love. As I reflect, I think of all the things I have learned, memories I have made, and people I have met. This year, I have met some of the best people in my life. And I truly think that people have certain roles in our lives. Some are the ones who listen, others are the ones who keep us in line, and some are the ones who help us celebrate life. This week, I think everyone would agree that this woman, is all three. I really don’t know that there are words to describe her. She is strong. She is tough. She is a fighter. She is a lover. And who are we kidding, she is a little crazy, but we love that about her. MaryKate, you my dear, are quite possibly the strongest women in this tribe. You have faced things that not many of us can say we have had to do. Not only did you fight hard, you loved harder through your whole battle. Being a mama to four kids and a wife to her high school sweetheart during this battle was not easy, but MK was stronger. She prevailed. She was put on this earth to not only fight the good fight, but to help those going through it. Three years cancer free, MK knows this is a tough battle and one that takes a village. She isn't afraid to share her story because it can be the hope for those out there who are in the thick of it. She knows that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, you just have to find it, and fight every.damn.day. Mk, you did it, and that alone is worth celebrating. In the time that I have known MK she has taught me to not stress the little things and to appreciate the big things. To have fun, to laugh, to celebrate, and to be thankful. To live my life out loud, with love in my heart, and good vibes in my soul. MK you’re a badass. Plain and simple. We are so grateful that you are part of our tribe, and that we get to do life with you. Everyone needs a little MK in their life, lets be real. So mama, this is for you. For being an inspiration, a friend, and of course the life of the party! We love you and are so blessed that we get to continue to walk this journey with you! You are one of the special ones and today we celebrate YOU!
To read more about MK and her love for TORQUE, continue reading! I am so beyond excited to see you all so very soon! But if not, sending love, good vibes, and hugs to you all wherever you may be!
Infinite X’s and O’s,
Favorite TORQUE Memory:
Oh this is so hard, because there are just so many! If I had to choose just one, it would probably have to be my first breast cancer ride with my girls! Summer and I did a team teach with all of my close friends, my sisters, and my best friends! Everyone there was riding together with their daughters. It was a really emotional ride to say the least, but to see all of my friends and sisters in that room, all spinning together, was something I will never forget! We also did a breast cancer ride this past October and it something I want to keep as a tradition at TORQUE bc it is just that special!
Favorite Quote and what it means to me:
“Difficult roads often lead to the most beautiful destinations.” Although my diagnosis with breast cancer and my battle was incredibly difficult, it has gotten me to the happiest place I have ever been in my life! After being diagnosed and spending over a year fighting, I was lost and incredibly down. My friend Julie kept asking me to try spin. I was out of shape, depressed, and just down on life! I finally gave in and the first person I met was Summer! I was hooked from day one when I left that class. I would often leave chemo treatments and do a class. It was my escape even if it was just for 45 minutes. Where I am now is truly happy, so beyond happy and so so lucky! I really do feel all things happen for a reason! The road was a rough one, but where I have ended up now is a beautiful destination for sure!
My Definition of TORQUE:
It's hard to explain it and I know that a lot of people don't get it. I have met some of the most amazing women here. Some I have only know for a year or less, but I feel Like I have known them my whole life! What Summer has created is something pretty special! TORQUE is truly a HAPPY place. When I’m there I forget about everything else and just let go. We lift each other up and we support each other, whether we are having a good day or a bad day, we are there for each other. We are all working to become better moms, wives, sisters, daughters, friends and more! I truly feel so incredibly lucky to be a part of this amazing place. I will never forget a couple of months ago after I taught one of my classes a woman came up to me and said she just got done working a 12hr nursing shift. She said she was exhausted, but couldn't wait to get to my class. That, to me, is what it is all about! To this day, I am so thankful Summer pushed me to get my certification. I truly can't imagine doing anything else!
Favorite Workout clothing brand:
I love it all! (It’s a problem) I would have to say Lululemon! I love everything they make. Their pants and zip ups are awesome! and Obvi TORQUE swag for sure!
Favorite post work-out snack:
I have been trying to make meals on Sundays for the week! My husband Matt has been working with a personal trainer and we have both been really trying hard to prep for the week! I grill a ton of chicken and salmon! Love egg whites after class with spinach and tomatoes! Oh and I will never turn down a lunch date to Kumo (or something cold and bubbly!)!
