Happy Wednesday TORQUE babes! If the weather at home is anything like it is here, I'm sure you all ready for the summer heat to leave and the cool fall breeze settle in (this no AC college life is seriously no fun at all) But before we know it, we will be bundling up in our parkas wishing for the beautiful sun to shine again. It is a good reminder to just be present, in whatever season of life we are in, even the ones that leave us sweaty and cranky! But this week, I bring you someone who will leave you sweaty, but the farthest thing from cranky. This week we get to shine a light on the queen of theme rides herself and the one who I share some blue and white blood with (we are...), Michelle Custred. This beautiful soul is a special one. I have never had the pleasure to take her class, but I did get to experience one from a distance. I know it sounds weird, but stay with me. When the first "successful, thousands of views" blog post went out, Michelle reached out immediately. Within seconds of it being posted, she sent me the nicest message. Someone I had only known by name, showed me her heart from day one. She not only talked the talk, but she walked that damn walk. That same weekend, she took the blog and read it in her spin class for her inspo. Little did she know, I sat outside the dark room and heard my words being spoken by someone who treated them with love, for me, that was everything. Michelle didn't know that I was there. She wasn't putting on a show. She was just being real and doing what she does best, getting real and honest with the ones she loves most. That is a quality that this TORQUE community loves and cherishes the most about our girl. Michelle, you are incredibly talented. Not only are you educated beyond belief (chemistry, cmon), but you are a super mommy, wife, and instructor all in one. To say we are grateful for her presence in our lives is an understatement. Keep on doing what you do the best mama because you are making this world a better place one (theme) ride at a time!

Favorite TORQUE memory:
AHHH! This question is so hard! SO many good times, great classes with everyone hitting the beat drops, and the beautiful 100th class cake - thank you Stacy Armor, and awesome people that all of these memories are so hard to pick! But, I will say, I do have a few moments that stick out in my head that I don’t get too often. So every once in a while, my son Mason will come to class with me and he hangs out in childcare while I am in class. Well, one night after class he asks me to go over to my TORQUE Gratitude Jar, and there is a Gratitude card in it. He wrote me a note during class!! “Your a good spiner mommy Love Mason” He was in 1st grade and I love that he tried to spell spinner! And he has put a half dozen more notes each time he goes with me. Sometimes it is a struggle to get them in the car on time or get to a class when I am not teaching, but I think he is starting to see why it is so important for me to get to spin class!
Favorite quote and what it means to you:
I am not sure if this is an actual quote, but the one thing I always say in class is to "forget everything for the next 45 minutes, this time is for you, and no one can take these next 45 minutes from you". We all have busy lives, we are struggling with something, our minds are constantly going. Listen, I get that, I am in it with you. My mom guilt has reached it’s limit some days, and I am usually running from here to there, with a list of things that need to get done in between. But on that bike, that is my time, I just turn it off, forget what happened that day, and what will happen after class. I am there, in that room on my bike, doing something for me. It’s OK, because we all need to do it to refuel our body to take on anything that is thrown our way.
Your definition of TORQUE:
TORQUE to me is a place of change. Change for the better in myself. Each class I get stronger. Each class I push harder physically and mentally. Each class I struggle to hit that 30 or 45 second sprint ( but sprints are my favorite if you didn’t know), but I always say that we can do anything for 30 or 45 seconds right? Each class make a change for the better in us. I have seen SO MANY AMAZING changes in clients, an even myself as a client in class and as an instructor. This place where I can be me, and I can become the best, and strongest version of myself.
Favorite workout clothing brand:
I LOVE Athleta! Chaturanga capris and their longer tights too are so comfortable when exercising. I am a fan of the Nike Sports bra, and let’s just say I may have a slight, just slight, obsession with those TORQUE tanks, and Corkcicle bottles! My husband swears I get a new shirt, hat or bottle every time I go to spin.
Favorite post-workout snack:
I don’t want to eat much ever after working out, but I love having an Isagenix protein shake. My favorite is Mocha and Strawberry, I add some almond milk, ice cubes, a scoop of collagen - blend and drink. It hits the spot and replenishes my muscles.
